Edward Anthony Borelli, 84, formerly of Anita, passed away on Monday,19 September 2022, at Mulberry Square Eldercare in Punxsutawney.
He was born at home in DuBois on 27 October 1937, a son of the late Joseph Borrelli and Rose (Muffie) Borrelli.
Ed was a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anita and now a member of Saints Cosmas and Damian Catholic Church. He served as an Eucharistic Minister at both churches.
Mr. Borelli served in the United States Marine Corp from 1957-1960 and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan.
In 1966, he married Cecelia Jean Yenzi. She preceded him in death in 1978. He later found companionship with Andrea Stiver, she also preceded him in death.
Ed worked the Railway Express Agency, which was the UPS or Fedex of its day, the very best way to ship goods and parcels many years ago. Following the closure of REA, he worked for the Punxsutawney Area School District as a custodian until his retirement.
When asked what he enjoyed in life, he answered without hesitation "a lot of things" one memorable achievement was wrestling. He wrestled for DuBois high school and was a two-time district champion. He also wrestled at Camp Lejeune when he was in the Marine Corp. Ed became a PIAA official for the junior and senior high school for fifteen years, it was a time in his life he really enjoyed.
He was a member of the Falls Creek Eagles and the Walston Club.
The most important part of Ed's life was his family, he adored his daughter Beth I. Anderson and husband Michael of Simpsonville, South Carolina as well as his grandson's Seth and Sean Anderson. He is also survived by one sister, Mary Raybuck of DuBois and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife Cecelia, companion Andrea Stiver, his parents, six brothers, Robert, Ambrose, Joseph, James, Samuel and Donald Borrelli; four sisters, Madalyn and Maxine Borrelli, Margaret Leon and Julia Gigliotti.
In accordance with his wishes, there was not any public visitation. Arrangements were entrusted to Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
His ashes were interred at the Adrian-Anita Roman Catholic Cemetery, McCalmont Township, Jefferson County.
