Enoch C. Pentz was a Volunteer with Knickerbocker Engine 12 of the New York Fire Department. He was an early member of Southwark Engine Company 38 and served over seven years. He was elected Assistant Foreman in 1843. His record in the company was a fine one. Mr. Pentz was from one of the oldest families in New York. The cooperage establishment at 2 Gouverneur Lane, was occupied by members of his family for over one hundred years.
