Chester P. Swinson, 81, of Crown Point, Ind., formerly of Olney, died at 11:50 a.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2001, at St. Anthony Medical Center in Crown Point, Ind.

Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Minister Joe Eggebrecht officiating.

Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg.

Mr. Swinson was born on August 16, 1919, in Olney, the son of Alvin and Cora Edna (Tennyson) Swinson. He married Mary K. Ibbotson. She survives.

He was a retired boilermaker for Local #374. He was a member and past elder of Southlake Christian Church; a member and past Master of F & AM Lake Lodge #157; and a 32nd Degree Mason, Scottish Rite, Valley of South Bend, Orak Shrine, Michigan City.

Mr. Swinson is survived by his wife, Mary K. Swinson, of Crown Point, Ind.; three sons, James A. Swinson and his wife, Doretta, of Bloomington, Ind., Paul R. Swinson and his wife, Debbie, of Hebron, Ind., and Jerry L. Swinson and his wife, Cindy, of Crown Point, Ind.; a daughter, Phyllis R. Stowers and her husband, Howard, of Valparaiso, Ind.; and 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
