Donna was born in Preston, Idaho to Wilford and Albena Bodily, the first of 11 children. When she was 6 years old the family moved to Bancroft, Idaho for about 10 years. Because of numerous crop failures the family moved back to Preston where Donna finished high school and moved to Pocatello where she worked and went to school one year at ISU. The following year she married Victor K. Nielsen in the Logan LDS Temple on July 1, 1931. They were parents of five children, 3 sons and 2 daughters, all of whom were born in Preston. In 1949 they moved to Emmett, Idaho where she continued to live after the death of her husband in October of 1981. In 2002 Donna came to Soda Springs and lived with her son, Ronald and wife, Jan for several years. Because of health problems she then made her home in the Caribou Memorial Living Center until her death on September 8, 2010.
Donna was always active in her church and loved teaching the children in primary, where she taught for years. She also worked in Young Women's MIA and was a faithful visiting teacher until about 97 years of age. She spent many years in the name extraction program and loved temple work, attending regularly and often.
She spent many hours gardening and helping her husband in their family upholstering shop and serving others. Donna often had grandchildren living in her home and she cherished those times and relationships. She was a hard worker and busy all of her life. But most of all she was a wonderful wife and mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her sons, Kimber and Carol Nielsen of Emmett, ID; Ronald and Jan Nielsen of Soda Springs, ID; and daughter Jean and Kaye Spackman of Soda Springs, ID; and 24 grandchildren, 84 great-grandchildren and 30 great-great grandchildren, a sister Mildred McCarthy and two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law. She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor; a son David and a daughter Marion, two grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, her parents and nine siblings..
