Mrs. Mildred Abbott, 83, of Columbus, GA passed away Saturday, October 10, 2009 at Azalea Trace Nursing Home in Columbus, GA. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Mrs. Abbott was born December 15, 1925 in Columbus, GA, daughter of the late Homer Jones and Maggie Jones. She worked as a nursing assistant at the Hamilton House Nursing Home. Other than her parents, Mrs. Abbott was preceded in death by one daughter, Evelyn Owens and two sons, Edward L Abbott, Jr. and John Michael Abbott, Sr. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Abbott of Columbus, GA; two sons, Jerome Abbott and wife, Margie of Columbus, GA and James Abbott of Columbus, GA; three sisters, Gayla Jones, Velera Jones and Clarissa Jones, all of Texas; one brother, Bill Jones of Welaka, FL; ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
