Guy became employed by the Joplin Globe in 1910. and was the foreman for the stereotyping department for 32 years, retiring on January 1, 1954. He remained with the company on a part-time basis another 5 years, finally retiring in 1959.
Guy and his wife, Mae, were charter members of the Gideon Church on 34th and Sergeant Street in Joplin, and later were members of the South Joplin Christian Church where he served on the church board for 9 consecutive years.
