John Mathew Couchman, 92, died April 14, 1993, at Central Kansas Medical Center, St Joseph Campus in Larned. He was born Aug 6, 1900, at Garfield, the son of George A and Elizabeth Wilson Couchman. He was a Larned resident, having lived in Garfield most of his life. He married Hazel Dell Deets Dec 26, 1928, at Pawnee Rock. She died Dec 4, 1977. She married Frankie E Davison Couchman February 14, 1982, at McPherson. He was a retired farmer.
Couchman was a charter member of United Methodist Church in Garfield, was a member of Masonic Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star and Ash Valley Grange, all in Larned.
Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Lorraine of Garfield; on stepson, Harold Couchman of Wichita; one daughter, Marilyn Fulton of Larned, on stepdaughter, Eileen Donham of Derby; seven grandchildren; six step grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and 12 stegreatpgrandchildren.
Funeral will be at 1030 am Saturday at Beckwith Mortuary in Larned with the Rev William E Brazil officiating. Burial will be at Garfield Cemetery. Friends may call until 9 tonight and from 9 am until service time Saturday at the mortuary. Memorials are suggest to Larned Emergency Medical Service, in care of the mortuary.
