Norman Edward Walters - Obituary
Published in Daily Breeze on Jan. 13, 2010

Norman went home to be with the Lord on January 7th, 2010 at 8:05 in the morning, at the age of 90. Norm was born in Howard, South Dakota where he was brought up on a farm.

Later on he got a job as a roust-a-bout with Howard Amusement Company and that's where he met Alice... she was an acrobat on stage. After a time he married Alice and decided to "make their nest out in the west" and with only twenty dollars in his pocket they were California bound.

Norm's siblings are: Harvey Walters (deceased), Don Walters, Jim Walters and JoAnn Perez.

He is survived by three grown children, Ron Walters and his wife Jeanette, Janet Brenenstahl and her husband Dennis, and Connie Butcher. He had three grown grandchildren, Scott Brenenstahl, Pam Brenenstahl and Byron Benjamin, Dawn Hendricks and husband Don.

Norman E. Walters was a good provider, father and husband. Mom and Dad traveled the world together, which they both enjoyed.

Dad was a veteran of World War II in which he served in the South Pacific and came home with honors.

Norm loved his music! When he was a young boy he bought a guitar for $13.00 from the Sears Catalog and the rest is musical history. Along with the guitar he also played banjo, harmonica and auto-harp. He delighted family and friends with his musical abilities and he loved an audience. He had many musical friends in the bluegrass community (SWABA) and won several awards backing up other players with the Old Time Fiddlers in Fullerton.

Some of his favorite songs were "In The Garden", "It's A Small World", "How Great Thou Art", Old Spinning Wheel" and "Help Me Make It Through The Night". Now Dad is performing for God and Mom in heaven and they can finally celebrate eternity together and "let the rest of the world go by".

On Friday, January 15th at 10:30am, there will be a Memorial for Norm at First Lutheran Church in Torrance, 2900 W. Carson St. Reception following. There will be no graveside service.
