Margaret Snodgrass Root was the daughter of Robert and Eliza Thompson Snodgrass. She married Anderson Root, a Civil War veteran, on 7 December 1864 in Crawford County, PA. and in 1865 they moved to Nebraska. She was the mother of Charles Thompson Root, Robert Snodgrass Root, Jennie Root Crabb and Ralph Roy Root and with her family was an early pioneer in Cartwright, Maricopa, Arizona Territory.
