His family emigrated from County Cork Ireland to Canada in the 1800's where Timothy was born. The family entered the United States and homesteaded on the Missouri River near Omaha. The father was killed over a land claim to the mother was forced to take care of her four sons alone.
Timothy, a veteran soldier. fought with the Union Army during the Civil War and helped put down Indian uprisings. He married Molly Conneally, They had one son, Paul and two daughters, Nan Calnon Black and Nell Calnon Eckleen. Timothy was the first Lyons postmaster appointed in the twentieth century. He and Molly managed the hotel in Lyons for many years.
