Port Huron - Mary Margaret Babrak, 59, of Port Huron, passed away Saturday, Sept. 6, 2003 in Mercy Hospital.
She was born to Basil and Charlotte Simons on Dec. 28, 1943 in St. Clair and grew up in St. Clair, graduating from St. Clair High School and MIchigan State University.
While living in Arizona, Mary taught on the Papago Indian Reservation and earned her masters degree in education from the University of Arizona.
After living in Afghanistan for two years, she moved to Port Huron where she was a case worker for the Michigan Department of Social Services for over 20 years.
She is survived by her six children, Wali Scott Babrak, Maleesha Mauri Babrak and David Wahab Babrak, all of Port Huron. Christopher Hamilton of Ionia, Andrew Anderson of Jackson and Jacklynn Godber of Port Huron; her granddaughter, Michayla Mauri Babrak; her longtime companion and former husband, Abdul Wali Barrak of Port Huron; her brother, Timohty Simons of St. Cair; her three sisters Patricia Simons, Pamela Simons and Lisa Johnson, all of St. Clair; her niece, Sara Silver; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her best friend, Sandra Cleaver.
Visitation will be in the Smith Family Funeral Home-South, 1230 Seventh St. from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Tuesday and at the church on Wednesday beginning at 12:00 noon.
