Orville J. Talman enlisted into Company "B" of the 108th N.Y. Infantry Regiment on Jul. 22nd, 1862 and was made a Corporal. He was wounded and returned to active duty prior to October of 1865. He was promoted back to Corporal in February of 1865 and to Sergeant May 1, 1865. He mustered out with the Company at Baileys Cross roads, Virginia on May 28th, 1865.
Later he and his wife lived in Paxton, Illinois for a number of years before returning to Monroe County after 1910 where they died.
