Alfred Dean Doel, commonly known as Dean Doel, was born Jan. 21, 1920, at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the son of William Doel and Violet Doroty Swaim Doel. He served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and married Betty Seymour on Nov. 2, 1945, at Milwaukie, Oregon. He had lived in the Milwaukie area for 44 years. He was a registered professional engineer for Pacific Northwest Bell for 36 years until his retirement in 1983. He was a life member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
