Deceased was a native of Glenn county, aged fourteen years. About three years ago, she came with her parents to Chico to take advantage of the educational institutions. She was an excellent student, a member of the M.E. Church, Sunday School and Junior League, and in every way gave promise of becoming a noble woman.
A father and mother, and the following brothers and sisters survive her: William, Ellsworth, Gertrude, Anna and Ellen Deering.
The funeral took place yesterday afternoon from the Fourth Street Methodist Church, impressive services being conducted by Rev. Welch in the presence of a large assemblage of both young and old.
14-year-old Lula M. Deering was interred, per the Chico Cemetery Association Records, in the plot noted, on October 5, 1902.
