The husband and children of Alice Gaye Bliss Scow are saddened to announce her passing on September 14, 2010. As always throughout her life, she was surrounded by her family.

Alice Gaye Bliss Scow was born on September 21, 1946 to Oren Vernon and Alice Hardy Bliss. She loved growing up in Hinckley, Utah and always talked about what a fun and happy childhood she had. She grew up spending time with her family and helping her parents on their farm.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints her whole life, and held many callings in her wards. She was very active in her community growing up. She was an organist for her ward and accompanist for school plays at Delta High School.

In 1964 she attended LDS Business College. She married her high school sweetheart, Darrel Scow, on December 28, 1965 in the Manti Temple. They started their family with the birth of a daughter in 1968 in Logan, Utah. They then moved to Phoenix, Arizona and celebrated the birth of their son in 1971. The last of their three children, a daughter, was born in 1976 while she lived in Sandy, Utah. She remained in Sandy and raised her children there. She was a dedicated mother to her three children her entire life, and enjoyed devoting her time, efforts, and talents to her family.

In 1998, she became Nana to the first of 12 grandchildren. Her grandchildren were the center of her life, as she was always focused on her family. She provided them with so much love and special attention that they all felt like they were her favorite. Nana always wanted her family close to her, and close with each other, and because of her we always will be.

Among her many talents, Nana was an exceptionally good cook. Her kitchen was always open and she always made wonderful treats for everyone.

In addition to the time she spent taking care of her family, she also owned and managed two privately held companies. She was an active Director on the boards of both.

She is survived by her husband Darrel, children Alex and Lisa, Doug and Emily, and Rebecca; her twelve adoring grandchildren MaKayla, A.J., Colton, Josh, Allie, Kyle, Macie, Logan, Jake, D.J., Mattie, and Jaxon; two brothers and sisters-in law Dale and Marlene Bliss, Roger and Darlene Bliss; sister and brother-in-law Evelyn and Calvin Skeem; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents Oren Vernon and Alice Hardy Bliss; three sisters Maxine, Helen, and Carma; and her Uncle Ferron.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in Sandy, Utah at the Crescent Ridge Stake Center, 1300 East 11000 South, with a viewing prior from 8:45 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Following the funeral, a brief graveside service will be held in her hometown of Hinckley, Utah at 3:00 p.m. with interment at the Hinckley Cemetery.
