The deceased came here in1893 and farmed near Gruver. When he came here in the early day he became acquainted with Geo. C. Allen then a ticket and freight agent in the depot. They kept up a close friendship for all the following years. Mr. Blom was a kind and considerate man but always did his own thinking. He was a friend of those he claimed friendship.
Mr. Blom was born in Holland June 26th, 1860. He came to America with his parents when he was a small boy. He received his early education in the Ackley schools the family residing near that city.
He was united in marriage to Miss Tillie Jurgens at Parkersburg May 27, 1883. They resided in Hardin county until 1893 when they moved to this county on a farm east of the city.
He is survived by six sons, Tom of this city, Joe of Blue Earth, Minn., Chris of Dunnell, Minn., Ole of Triumph, Minn., Ben of Monterey and Jerry of Holloway. There was one daughter surviving, Mrs. Mark [Mary] Fank of Dolliver.
The funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at 2 from the Presbyterian church in Gruver, the Rev. H. C. McMican officiating. Interment was in the Oak Hill cemetery. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, December 23, 1948)
