Abraham Greenspan died peacefully among family at his Rancho Viejo home on Tuesday, April 13, 2010, after a lengthy battle with non-Hodgkins lymphoma. Abraham was born in Mexico City on October 1, 1933, to Tania and Nathan Greenspan. Abraham is survived by his three daughters Natalie Greenspan Brawley (husband Jed Brawley), Ruth Greenspan (Robert Werner), Karen Greenspan, and son Jacob Greenspan. He is also survived by his dear sister Rachel Pearlman (husband Manuel Pearlman) and her children, and by his fiancee Gayle Kahn and her children., The family mourns the departure of their beloved Abraham, but they also celebrate his rich life. A staunch supporter of the University of Texas, Abraham studied law at Austin in his youth and later in life was a professor of international business and, more recently, director of the International Trade Center at Brownsville. Prior to working at U.T., Abraham practiced law and business in the U.S., Mexico, and internationally. Abraham also served as Captain in the U.S. Army 8th Special Forces, serving in Panama and at Fort Hood., A funeral service in Jewish tradition and with U.S. military honors was held at the Hebrew Cemetery in Brownsville on April 14th.
