Funeral This Afternoon at 2:30 O'Clock in St. Peter's Church--Interment at Elmwood.
Mrs. Alice Caldwell Owens, widow of the late Mr. William A. Owens, died at the home of Mrs. Ferebe McCombs, on West Seventh street, yesterday morning at 7:30 o'clock. For a number of years Mrs. Owens had been residing with Mrs. Laura T. Guion, on East Ninth street, her only relative on her father's side. For months past, Mrs. Owens' health has been poor and recently she was removed to Mrs. McCombs' home in the hope that the change might benefit her. She has been gradually sinking, and her death yesterday was not unexpected. There are no surviving children. The funeral will take place at St. Peter's church this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, the services being conducted by the rector, Rev. Harris Millinckrodt. The interment will be at Elmwood.
Mrs. Owens was a daughter of the late Major Green W. Caldwell, a well-known citizen of Charlotte in the early part of the last century. She was born in the city in 1833, and has been a resident here almost ever since. The deceased was a faithful member of St. Peter's Episcopal church. For many years she was a member of St. Agnes Guild and of the St. Peter's Hopsital board, resigning some time ago owing to declining health. Mrs. Owens was known to almost all the older people of Charlotte. She was belvoed by all.
