MARRIAGE: "Aaron, George W., 19, to the widow Sophy (Sophia Powell) Graves, 19, at the res. of her father, Henry Powell; 21 April 1860 by J. T. Downs, MG." Sophy was the widow of John C. Graves whom she married January 10, 1856 at age 15.

LAND PATENT: October 1, 1860, a patent for 40 acres of land adjoining lands of Henry J. Powell was issued to George Washington Aaron. James Buchanan was President of the U.S. listed on the land patent.

CSA Enlistment: Geo. W. Aaron enlisted in Company G, 1st Ark. Cavalry, June 17, 1862, 33rd Ark. Infantry.

DEATH: In 1863, George Aaron was sent home with a very bad case of measles. He died at home and was buried in the Powell family's burial plot which is on the eastern edge of Jacob Powell's original land, patented March 2, 1857.

George W. Aaron is listed as dead on the list of "Soldiers of Hempstead County Indigent Families 1862-1864". His wife, Sophia (Powell) and son John C. Aaron are shown as dependents.
