Born in Arkansas, Martha's family came to Oregon by wagon train in 1853. She lived with them on a farm near Eugene until marrying William Perry Crow in 1857. He taught for about 12 years before they moved to eastern Oregon in 1870. First they were near Athena for a short time, then they settled on a homestead near Milton. She stayed on the homestead until 1920, when she moved in with her son William.
