Mr. E. B. Atkinson who had been confined to his bed for six months, died June 28th, 1912. He was one of the county's oldest and best citizens, 74 years old, served in Forrest's cavalry. In 1860 he married Miss Dora Brownlee, moved to his home three and one half miles north of Houston, where they lived together for 53 years. Thirteen children were born to them, and only three of his large family are living, two daughters and one son, but they know their loss is his eternal gain, for he expressed himself often of being ready and willing to go. In all the six months he was sick, he was never heard to murmur or complain. May God help the surviving ones to be prepared to meet father and husband in the heavenly home. The pains of death are past, Labor and sorrow cease, And life's long warfare closed at last, His soul is found in peace.
