Ella Mae "Peach" Cochran, 59, of Harborcreek Township died Friday, Oct. 26, 2001, at her home.

She was born Sept. 9, 1942, in Meadville, daughter of the late Irvin and Ella Mae Smeal Schnarrs. She lived in the Erie area most of her life.

She was a homemaker. She founded the Harborcreek Food Pantry and was honored for her work. She received the Special Volunteer Award in 1997, plus the Volunteer of the Year Award signed by Gov. Tom Ridge, Rep. Tom Scrimenti and Sen. Jane Earll.

She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary societies. She also taught CCD classes and helped prepare church dinners. She enjoyed traveling, camping and crafts.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Schnarrs.

Survivors include her husband of 37 years, George A. Cochran; a daughter, Cherie Fay Cochran of Harborcreek; two sons, George J. Cochran and his wife, Susan, of North East and Charles I. Cochran and his wife, Venessa, of Erie; four sisters, Nellie K. Gleason and her husband, Jerry, of Richmond, Va., Marilyn J. Emigh and her husband, Bill, of Hawk Run, Patricia Schnarrs of Erie and Barb Schulz and her husband, Frank, of Waterford; seven brothers, David and Charlie Schnarrs and Jess Schnarrs and his wife, Connie, all of Richmond, Frank Schnarrs and his wife, Sherry, of Olympia, Wash., John Schnarrs and his wife, Tina, of Erie, Rick Schnarrs and his wife, Sally, of North East and George "Sam" Schnarrs and his wife, Cathy, of Philadelphia; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Dusckas Funeral Home East. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 837 Bartlett Road, Harborcreek.

Burial will be private at St. Gregory Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family in care of Dusckas Funeral Home East, 2607 Buffalo Road, Erie, PA 16510.
