Irene L. May, age 87, of Randolph, died Saturday morning at home.
Born Sept. 20, 1914 in Randolph, she was the daughter of the late Clement and Trina (Engelhart) Lang and had lived in Randolph all of her life. Mrs. May was a member of the St. Joseph Church in Randolph. She had retired as manager of the St. Joseph School Cafeteria. She was a member of the St. Joseph Altar Society, was the Randolph Central Committeeman of Precinct B, a member of the Portage County Democratic Executive Committee, The Hayseed Club, Randolph Senior Citizens, St. Joseph Euchre Club, Ladies Euchre/Pokino Clubs, St. Joseph Senior Tyme, and the Ran dolph Historical Society. She was a volunteer with the Visiting Nurse Service, helped with the puppet sewing for Robinson Memorial Hospital, and was also a member of RSVP.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon in 1962; brothers, Paul and Claude Lang; and sisters, Dorothy Poole and Edith Roliff. Survivors include her sons, Leon (Betty) of Randolph, Thomas (Barbara) of Muncie, Ind., Samuel (Eileen) of Suffield, Jerry (Elaine) of Brimfield; daughters, Mrs. James (Nancy) Winkler of Brimfield, Mrs. Gary (Susan) Givler of Cincinnati, Mrs. David (Kathy) Lyon of Virginia; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Dr. Walter Lang of Kent; sisters, Alice Paulus of Cleveland Heights, Dolores Lang of Tallmadge and Jane Weber of Cuyahoga Falls.
Friends may call at the Wood- Kortright Funeral Home in Ravenna from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday at the St. Joseph Church in Randolph with the Rev. Fr. James Lang and the Rev. Fr. Edward Wieczorek officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Randolph. Memorials may be made to the Randolph Fire Department, P.O. Box 190, Randolph, OH 44265.
