The 1st of 6 children of Thomas Manley & Florence Ethel Martin PIERCE, Lucille was born in the same house where her 5 brothers and sisters and her first child Jerry were born. She was graduated from Waterford high-school with a major in home economics. She married Orin Dulin THORNTON of nearby Watertown on 4 July 1938 at Greenup, KY with friends Bill & Eloise Danford and John Martin & Aline Graham (later Mrs. John Martin) as witnesses. The couple had 4 children, Jerry Lee, Janet Lucille, Judith Lynn, and Joan Leslie Thornton. They moved to Stark County, first to Hartville, then Middlebranch. A devoted mother and wife, Lucille celebrated 50 years of marriage with her spouse Orin in July 1988 with all but one of their surviving siblings and spouses attending the reception. Their 4 children, 5 of their grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also attended. Lucille completed her life at home, near North Canton, on 15 Jan 2000, with her loving husband of 61 years in attendance.
