Bertha E. "Bertie" Conrad, 77, of Stonecrest Drive, died unexpectedly Tuesday at Community Hospital of Lancaster. She was under a physician's care. She was the wife of Lloyd H. Conrad, who died in 1984. Born in Altoona, she was a daughter of the late David Henry and Elizabeth Donner McGeary. She was a picture tube inspector at RCA Corp. for about 20 years.
A member of Covenant United Methodist Church of Lancaster, she was active in the New Holland Senior Citizens and AARP. A china and glass painter, she taught those arts privately.
Surviving are two daughters, Yvonne, wife of William Burkholder of Ephrata, and Carol, wife of Frank Braun of Newtown Square; five grandchildren; a great-grandson; and a sister, Mamie Murtliff of Altoona.
