Edgewood, Ia. -- Special: Funeral services for George S. Jones, 80, were held at the Platt Funreal Home here Monday afternoon in charge of the Rev. A.H. Meyer, retired M.E. pastor. Burial was in the Edgewood Cemetery.

Mr. Jones was born in Cox Creek Township, Clayton County, on Feb. 18, 1860, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Jones. He was educated in the public schools of the county and followed the occupation of farming until he was 24 years old. On March 25, 1884 he was married to Emma Helms. His wife died Aug. 10, 1931.

Mr. Jones Died Friday following a several weeks' illness.
For many years he was a cement contractor. He had served three terms as road supervisor, three terms as superintendent of township roads, six years as street commissioner in Edgewood, and two terms as game warden. He was also a former mayor.

He was a member of IOOF, Modern Woodmen, and the Royal Neighbors.

Surviving are a son, Leon of Edgewood; three grandchildren and one brother, Charles of Tulsa, Okla.
