Mabel L. Thompson, 100, of Canton, IL passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at 6:47 am at the Graham Hospital, Canton, IL. She was born in Canton, IL on September 4, 1910, the daughter of William and Anna (Tennis) Elliott. She married Ralph D. Thompson on November 24, 1928 in Bloomington, IL. He died May 26, 1996. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one daughter, Kay E. Walters; two brothers, Marion R. and Lester M. Elliott; and one sister, Mildred Hursh. Surviving are a son, Danny (Lois) Thompson of Lexington; six grandchildren, Norene (Chris) Harrison of Bloomington, Chris Walters of Canton, Joanna Thompson of Springfield, Brent Thompson of Mackinaw, Kirstin (Matt) Giacometti, and Joshua (Kelly) Thompson of Springfield; fourteen great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Mabel loved quilting, sewing, & crocheting. She was of the Christian faith. Services will be Friday, September 24, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home, Canton with visitation an hour prior. Rev. Christian Ricker will be officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Canton. Memorials may be made to the Graham Hospital Extended Care.
