HARRIS BROEN, 63 of 1029 S. 21st, Manitowoc, died Sunday at Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc where he had been hospitalized since Wednesday. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church, Manitowoc, Rev. Vernon Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Town of Manitowoc. Mr Broen was born March 9, 1901 in Green Valley, Wisconsin, son of the late Gundar and Caroline Erickson Broen. He attended Green Bay schools and Scandivania Academy. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1919 and served aboard the USS Arkansas. He was discharged from the military service in 1923. He married Miss Helen Christianson, June 15, 1927 at Navarino, Wisconsin and the couple resided in Manitowoc sence 1944. Mr. Broen was an employee of Chicago & Northwest Railroad for 41 years, the last 10 as engineer. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church and Mens Brotherhood and the Locomotive Engineers 249. He enjoyed taveling and fishing. Surviving are his wife, three daughters, Mrs Thomas Bean and Mrs. Russell Mraz of Manitowoc and Mrs William Sicker of Crown Point, Indiana, a son, Howard of Green Bay, a sister, Mrs. John Roubal of Antigo, 2 brothers, Carl Henningsen of Green Bay and Arthur of Portland, Oregon and 11 grandchildren. Three sisters and 2 brothers proceded him in death. Friends may call after 4:00 this Monday evening at Jens Funeral Manitowoc until 10:30 A.M. Tuesday and then at the Church. The Mens Brotherhood will have Memorial Services at 9:00 this Monday evening at the Funeral Home.
