"I was born at home as many rural babies were at that time, the youngest child of Henry & Hattie Burbank. My father's diary says I was 'round and plump,' (I still am) and that he had to pay the doctor $15 for delivering me. I grew up on the Dearborn-Burbank farm, mostly in the 'horse and buggy days' and learned all the stuff that farm kids are supposed to know.
"I graduated from Chelsea High School and the University of VT with a degree in education. Teachers were in demand at that time and I got reduced tuition by promising to teach in VT. However, I only taught two years, one of those after marrying Wendell (Ike) Folsom and going to live with his parents in Waitsfield."
