O.C. Barton Dies at Midvale, Ida., Meningitis

After a short illness of one week's duration, O. C. Barton died early Sunday Morning at his home near Midvale, Idaho. His illness was pronounced pleuro-pneumonia, culminating in spinal meningitis.

The remains were brought to Athena Tuesday morning and taken to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gross, on Fifth Street, and the funeral was held at 2 o'clock in the afternoon at the Christian church, with Rev. B. B. Burton officiating. Interment was made in the Athena cemetery.

The deceased was 38 years old on February 7th. last, and was born in Nance county, Nebraska. About eight years ago he married Miss Rose Nisson of Madras, Oregon, and is survived by his wife and two young sons, one 6 and one 1 year old. He is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Fannie Barton; three brothers: Ed Barton of The Dalles; Ralph Barton of Blalock, and Clarence of Madras; and three sisters, Mrs. May Hawthorn, of Hood River; Mrs. Addie Stone of Midvale, Idaho, and Mrs. Blanche Stone of Pullman, Wash., all excepting his brother Clarence being present at the funeral.

"Osie," as he was familiarly known was a popular young man in this vicinity in his earlier boyhood, and still had many friends here. He was a cousin of Mrs. Fred Gross and Henry Keen.

He had been farming rented land near Midvale, and carried a $2000 life insurance policy in the name of his wife.
