SFC Makisha C. Wood, age 30, a resident of Albuquerque since 2002, and a lifelong resident of Chama, unexpectedly passed away Saturday, September 18, 2010. She is survived by her children, Thomas, Aunika, and Evangelina Wood of the home; parents, Jeff Wood of Chama, and Evangelyn DeYapp and Mike Trujillo of Albuquerque; brothers, Jeff Wood and wife Cassie of Chama, and Lee Wood of Albuquerque; niece, Bailey Wood of Chama; and grandparents, Lee and Alice Wood of Snowflake, AZ. Makisha is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family members; and her family of the 111th MEB (NM Army National Guard). She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lucillo and Cleo DeYapp; uncles, Amos, Gumi DeYapp and Jim Martin; cousins, Sky Blu, Amos DeYapp and Jerome Baldonado; and niece, Riley Wood. She was active duty with the NMARNG for the past 12 years. She dedicated herself to her peers and loved ones alike. She was a devoted and loving mother, daughter, sister, and friend. Visitation in Albuquerque will take place Thursday, September 23, 2010, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., at French-Westside Chapel. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 24, 2010, at 10:00 a.m., at the Chama Community Center, 299 4th Street at Pine Street in Chama, NM, with a visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. A committal service with full military honors will follow at 2:00 PM, at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
