Funeral services for Charles Wesley Shirey, 85, former resident of Mariasville, who died in Dallas, Texas were held at 11 a.m., Monday in the Criswell funeral home, Emlenton, with Rev. Fred Fink officiating. Interment was in the Emlenton Cemetery with the following pallbearers: Fred Albert, H. Shirey, Robert King, Fred Mull, Evans Hunsberger and Harry Shaner.
A son of the late Peter and Helena Biery Shirey, Mr. Shirey was born Sept. 3, 1865 in Richland Twp., Venango Co. In 1892 he was married to the former Esther A. Kratzer of Salem Twp., Clarion Co., who preceded him in death. Mr. Shirey was a member of the New Zion Evangelical Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Karnes, Parker, and Mrs. Josephine Iversen of Cambridge Springs and a son Floyd L. Shirey of Dallas, Texas. Also surviving are 12 grand children and 10 G-Grand children. Also a sister, Miss Hattie Shirey of Huntington Beach, CA.
