Robert Logan, one of the oldest settlers of the county and city, passed away last evening at 9:30 o'clock. Mr. Logan, who had reached the advanced age of 83 years, came to Emporia in August 1857. He purchased a farm on Dry Creek just south of the city, and located his residence on a small tract of ground purchased from Jacob Stotler claim, now the corner of Logan avenue and Commercial street, where he has ever since made his home. During the war he served with Company E, 5th Kansas. He was a native of Pennsylvania. He leaves a wife and two sons, and a daughter. One son, J.W., and the daughter, Mrs. E.J. Conner are residents of Emporia.
