DEATH OF MRS. WM. ADDIS
The many friends of Mrs. Wm. Addis were pained and somewhat shocked at the sad news of her death, which took place at Topeka, Sunday morning at 5:30 o'clock, from the effects of a surgical operation which she had undergone.
She was suffering from a cancerous tumor, and with the intention of staying its progress, she was taken to Topeka on the 10th inst. for treatment. The operation was successfully performed, but the subsequent breaking of an artery caused hemorrhage which resulted in death.
The remains were brought from Topeka Monday noon. Funeral services took place at [the] family residence, 627 Union street, at 2 o'clock, Tuesday. Rev. L. H. Holt, pastor of the Baptist church of which the deceased was a member, conducted the services, after which the remains were interred in Maplewood cemetery.
The deceased was 48 years old, a native of New York and was married to Mr. Addis at Kansas city in 1889, since which time she has resided in Emporia. She was an earnest Christian worker and highly esteemed by all who enjoyed her acquaintance.
