Loren B. Stanton was born at Wausau Wisconsin, and was the son of William and Mary Burns Stanton. He married Jennie Monterville at Gouverneur on Oct 28, 1902. Early on he was a cheesemaker, but later worked in the grounds and building service at St. Lawrence University. He retired due to his health and with his family operated a grocery at his home until his health declined further and he totally retired.

He was survived by his wife, a son, three grandchildren, a brother and two sisters.
