Obituary -- Harrisville, Michigan, January 27, 1949
MRS. JAMES RICHARDS – Mrs. James Richards passed away Saturday morning at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Adams in Gustin Township.
Lily Jane Becker was born March 12, 1862 in Norfolk County, Canada, the daughter of Solomon and Lucy Becker. In 1880 she married Louis Anderson, also of Canada. A few years later they moved to Michigan. They had nine children, seven of them living, five daughters and two sons; Mrs. Sarah Quance and Mrs. Myrtle McKay of Flint, Michigan; Mrs. Cora Richards of Inkster, Michigan; Mrs. Edith Isbelle of Hawaii; William Anderson of Flint, and Milton Anderson of Harrisville.
Mr. Anderson passed away March 9, 1910. In 1927 she was married to James Richards of Detroit. They made their home in Detroit a few years then moved to her home in Harrisville. The husband also survives, and a sister, Mrs. James Morison; fourteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
The funeral was Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Lincoln Funeral Home with Rev. McGuire and Rev. Lewis officiating. Burial was in Springport Cemetery. The pallbearers were Jos. Baror, John Byce, Hugh Beede, Carter Miller, Carl Riebow and Doc VanWagoner.
Those here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Quance, Mr. and Mrs. William Anderson and family and Mr. and Mrs. Andy McKay, all of Flint; Mrs. Cora Richards and son Melvin Nestle of Inkster and Mr. Spurgey Cowan of Tawas.
