John R. Sholl, Sr., 87, 121 W. Simmons St., Galesburg, died at 7:47 AM Wednesday, May 19, 2004 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital. He was born July 10, 1916 in Abingdon, IL, the son of Glen and Josephine Anderson Sholl. He married Eunice B. Pettit on July 10, 1937 in Galesburg. She preceded him in death on April 11, 2000.He is survived by a son, John, Jr. (and Sharon) Sholl, Lake Bracken, Galesburg, a daughter, Seanith Rose, Alexis, IL, 2 sisters, Polly (and Tom) Firof and Vivian Miller, both of Galesburg, 9 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Raymond Sholl, 3 brothers, and one sister. He was a foreman at the former Gale Products Division of Outboard Marine Corporation in Galesburg for 30 years. He and his wife also operated the Little Red Barn Bakery for 21 years and the Showboat Tavern for 7 years, both in Oquawka, IL. He retired in 1970. He had lived in the Galesburg area for most of his life. He was a member of the former Fraternal Order of Eagles and a social member of Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285.Funeral will be 5 PM Friday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Visitation will be 4 to 5 PM Friday at the chapel. Cremation will be accorded following the services with private family burial ashes in Abingdon Cemetery at a later date. (http://www.h-p-w.com)
