Lyndol P. "Rex" Guice, 78, of Laramie, Wyo., died of lung cancer Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010, at Ivinson Memorial Hospital in Laramie.

He was born Oct. 17, 1931, to Ira and Ophelia Guice at Sicily Island, La. He graduated from Sicily Island High School, attended Arkansas State University on a football scholarship and graduated in 1953 with a degree in business.

He married Betty Gibson on June 17, 1952, at Fayette, Miss. They had two sons, Doug and Terry. After college Rex worked as an executive for Phillips Petroleum for 20 years, moving his family to Spokane, Wash., and Denver.

In 1974 he established Four "G" Enterprises in Laramie with his wife Betty and two sons. He loved having his own business. He always said he would work until the day he died, and he was at work the day he went into the hospital two weeks ago.

Rex touched many lives in Laramie and was loved by many friends and family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed life to the fullest and worked to make life a joy for others.

Some of his greatest enjoyment came from the daily interaction he had with his many friends. He was always happy to lend a helping hand, share a funny tale and was well known for his enthusiastic outlook on life and contagious sense of humor.

He was a member of Laramie Valley Chapel; Laramie Lodge No. 3 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, York Rite; Korein Shriners; and Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Laramie Lodge No. 582.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, W.C. Guice; and two sisters, Augustine Garrison and Ouida Wactor.
