Annie W. Marshall was born on March 22, 1850, in Airdrie, New Monkland, Lanark, Scotland, to John and Fannie Marshall.

Annie married John D. Aitken on January 19, 1866, in Toronto, Canada. John and Annie were living in Chicago, at the time of the "Great Chicago Fire", in 1871. They later moved first to Quincy, IL and then immigrated to Washington Territory in 1878 in an area now known as Enterprise. John was a carpenter and went up to the town of White Rock, BC, leaving Annie to keep the farm that first year. It was said that she lived in mortal fear of the Indians who the instant John left came demanding food.

John Aitken died in 1907. Annie lived alone for awhile and then later married a long time family friend Edwin Lopas on July 15, 1915 in Seattle, WA. Edwin died October 27, 1925.
