Virginia White Saffold was the daughter of Thomas Peter and Sarah Berien White Saffold of Savannah, GA and the granddaughter of Thomas Peter and Matilda Claghorn Saffold.

Virginia Saffold was a fine painter and published playwright who had moved to New York City as a young lady to pursue a career, there she met Dr. Eugene Theodore Booth, Jr. Rhodes Scholar and prominent nuclear physicist from Georgia.

On December 24, 1940, Virginia married Dr. Eugene Theodore Booth, Jr., at the Church of the Transfiguration in New York. They had a daughter named Brenda Booth.

Graveside services were held in Savannah's Bonaventure Cemetery on Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at 1:00 PM.

We are saddened to announce the death of Virginia Saffold Booth, 93, daughter of Thomas Peter Saffold and Sarah Berien White Saffold.

She was born in Savannah on November 30, 1911, died January 5, 2005. A fine painter and published playwright, she moved to New York City as a young woman to pursue a career, and there met and married that late Dr. Eugene T. Booth, Rhodes Scholar and prominent nuclear physicist from Atlanta.

With her zest and enthusiasm for life, Mrs. Booth leaves behind many devoted friends and is survived by her daughters, Zaida Levin of Brooklyn, NY and Brenda Booth of Charleston, SC, two grandchildren, and a great grandson. All will miss her.

A visitation is scheduled for Monday, January 10, 2005 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel.

A graveside service will be held in Savannah's Bonaventure Cemetery on Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at 1:00 p.m.

Remembrances may be sent to Saint John's Episcopal Church.
