Joe worked in retail for 12 years before working for a local duck processing plant for 26 years, 15 of which was as plant manager. While there he received the President’s Award. Prior to retirement he worked for Roundy’s Supermarkets. He was a member and past president of Belle City Communicators CB Club which was involved in raising money for Muscular Dystrophy. He loved golf, deer hunting and vacationing at his timeshares with his wife. He was an avid Packers and Brewers fan. He loved spending time with his family and always was willing to offer his help when needed. He had a good sense of humor and liked to make people laugh. He took pride in his home, yard and pool.
Survivors include his father, Howard Alton, his wife Christine Alton, children, Terri (Rich) Jarvis, Debbie (Bill) Nelson, David (Sue) Alton, Tim (Jenny) Alton, grandchildren, Jennifer (Matt Maier) Nelson, Eric Nelson, Stephen Jarvis, Kelly Jarvis, Meghan Alton, Connor Alton, Matthew Alton and Logan Alton. He is further survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Nancy Alton, Darlene (Larry) Burchell, Marcine (Leslie) Reeck, Bernene Kingery, father-in-law, Bernard Schaetten, step father-in-law, Jerald Wittman and many nieces, nephews and special friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred, brother, Tom, grandson, Andrew Alton, mother-in-law, Ellen Wittman, daughter-in-law, Lorie Alton, niece, Dawn Burchell and nephew, Shawn Burchell.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2008 at 11:00AM at Polnasek-Daniels Funeral Home in Union Grove with Pastor Michael Zolnosky officiating. Burial will follow at Union Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family on Wednesday, April 23rd from 4 – 7PM and on Thursday, April 24th from 10 – 11AM, at the funeral home.
