Edward L Berger, son of Ben E and Emma (Skrogstad) Berger, lived and farmed the home placed except for the years he was in the United States Navy during World War II and after his discharge attended business college in Grand Forks. While in the Navy, he served in the Amphibious Forces abroad in LCI (Landing Craft Infantry). He participated in campaigns in the Marshall Islands, Marianas, Philippines and Okinawa. As the war ended his squadron was sent to the French Indo-China (Vietnam) to evacuate Chinese Nationalist forces from there to Taiwan.
