By the overturning of a sled, piled high with heavy logs, little Grant Otis,
aged 3 years, was crushed to death at 3:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon at Wahl
and his brother, Roscoe, aged 9 years, suffered a fractured thigh. The father,
J. F. Otis, was riding on the sled but escaped injury when the logs began to
roll.
Coroner Wear was called to the scene of the accident. He found that the
youngest child's head was crushed and that death evidently came instantly. The
older boy was brought to the city and placed in St. Luke's hospital. No inquest
was held over the body of the younger child.
Today the parents came to Bellingham and purchased a casket of H. O. Bingham.
The funeral services will be held tomorrow morning and interment will be made at
the cemetery at Ten Mile.
