Maggie Donia's father was Jacob Coon, born 19 Sep 1841 in Summit, Pike Co, Missouri, son of Samuel Coon (1817 MS) and Nancy Smith (1819 MS - abt. 1871 LA). He died Jul 1879 in Jacksonville, Cherokee County, Texas. He was a Civil War Veteran, CSA. Maggie's mother, Martha Jane Aldridge, was part Indian. She was born 14 Feb 1845 in Minden, Claiborne Parish, LA (where she and Jacob were married 10 Oct 1864) and died 17 Apr 1910 in Gurdon, Clark Co., Arkansas. After her husband died, she gathered her children together in a wagon and drove the distance to Arkansas alone, to be with her sister and her family there, who had married Jacob's brother, Zacariah Coon.
