Horace M. Durrence, 67, died
Monday in Candler General Hospital
in Savannah after a long illness. The
Tattnall County native was a retired
state employee and farmer. He was a
mason and member of Philadelphia
Lodge 73 F&AM and a member of
Watermelon Creek Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs.
Pearl J. Durrence of. Reidsville; one
daughter,. Mrs. Geraldine D. Kirkland
of Hawkinsville; one son, Gary M.
Durrence of Claxton; four sisters, Mrs.
Mollie Weathers of Glennville, Mrs.
Kathryn Baxter of Ludowici, Mrs.
Joyce Todd of Claxton, and Mrs.
Norma James of Charlotte, N.C.; five
brothers, Willie Durrence, Alvo
Durrence, Cyril Durrence, and Elvis
Durrence, all of Glennville, and Harris
Durrence of Reidsville; and seven
grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Durrence
were held Wednesday, 3 p.m. at
Watermelon Creek Baptist Church,
conducted by the. Rev. Jimmy Greer
and the Rev. Herb O'Neal. Burial was
in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were L. J. Spivey,
Lamone Ray, Aubrey Durrence, Dale
Durrence, Jesse Bradley, and Gerald
Baxter.
Honorary pallbearers were correc-
tional officers of the Georgia State
Prison.
Rirnes Mortuary was in charge of
the arrangements.
