Dies Suddenly;
Rites Set Friday

Final tributes will be paid to the life of George M. Blair 61, 4894 Poplar St., at funeral services to be conducted Friday Dec. 26, at 12 noon in Jenkins Mortuary chapel, 4760 South State St. Mr. Blair died of a heart ailment late Sunday evening at his residence.

Friends may call at the place of funeral Thursday Dec. 25, from 6 to 8 p.m., and on Friday prior to services.

Bishop Wilmer L. Barnett of Murray third ward will officiate at the services burial will be in Murray City cemetery.

Born in Granite Utah on Sept. 26, 1891, he was a son of William O. and Elizabeth McGee Blair.

He was a member of the LDS church and of Murray first ward. On Nov. 12, 1924, he married Gladys Boyce in the Salt Lake Temple.

Mr. Blair held membership in American Legion Post No. 60 of Murray and had served during World War I with the Signal Corps in France in two major military engagements. During his youth he was team master hauling ore from Little and Big Cottonwood canyons and from Bingham canyon to the smelter at Sandy he also helped develop the Rexall mine at Alta.

Throughout his life, Mr. Blair maintained an active interest in sports, especially baseball and basketball, and had been a player in the state and county baseball leagues.

Surviving are his widow: one son, Don Clair Mountain View Dr.; one daughter, Mrs. Dean (Wanda Lee) Thornberg of Savannah Ga.; two grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters: Thomas Blair, Granite; Charley Blair, Butlerville; Grant Blair, Union; Mrs. Mary E. Cushing, Park City; Mrs. Ida Oldham, Salt Lake City and Mrs. Beth Brady, Union.
