Samuel Means, born about 1735 (to John Means and ____McCord); died in 1780, Northumberland Co, PA. Samuel married ELIZABETH CLARK.
He served in the Revolutionary War receiving wounds at the Battle of Wyoming (3 July 1778) which attributed to his death.
Samuel's widow and children were forced to fee their home in Northumberland County to escape an Indian attack in which their home was burned. They moved to Bradford County, Pennsylvania and were among the first settlers at Towanda.
Samuel's widow died soon after moving there. Following is their issue:

~ (son), b ca 1760; d 1778 (in the Wyoming Massacre)
~ Ellen, b ca 1763, married ________Diven of New York
~ William, b ca 1765; d 30 October 1829
~ Nancy, b ca 1768, married Anderson Warner
~ Elizabeth, b ca 1771
~ Mary, b ca 1775; d 3 November 1855
