Obituary: Queen America Ruth passed away March 2, 2009 in Bonne Terre, MO at the age of 90. She was born September 11, 1918 in Roselle, the daughter of late Rolland A. "Pop" and Hattie (Phillips) Henry. On October 31, 1938 she was united in mar¬riage to Austin Ruth who preceded her in death on November 28, 1998. To this marriage three chil¬dren were born; Cecelia Ward of Ironton, Sandra Blackburn of Denver, CO, and Ken Ruth of Barnhart. Also surviving are one sister, Dorothy Barnes of Pilot Knob, eight grand children, eight great grand children, and 32 great great grand children as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Queen was preceded in death by two brothers; Rueben and Archie Henry, and two sisters; Audrey Mayes and Eunice Osthof. Queen was a 1935 graduate of Ironton High School. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ironton, and she was the owner of the Kozy Korner restaurant for many years. Funeral services were held on Friday, March 6, 2009 from Bryson Funeral Home with Pastor Christopher Whorton officiating. Interment was in Sebastian Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Signer Senior Center.
