Councilman's Mother Dies

Mrs. Richard Austin Myers, 73, mother of City Councilman Brevard Myers and a member of one of Charlotte's most prominent families, died this morning in Paris.

Mr. and Mrs. Brevard Myers were planning to fly to Paris today. Mrs. Myers was on a vacation trip when she died.

Mrs. Myers was related to both the Springs family of Springs Cotton Mills as well as the Myers family, long leaders in Charlotte. She was the former Marguerite Springs.

Her husband, Richard A. Myers, died in 1938. She was the daughter of Caroline Clarkson and Brevard Davidson Springs.

Surviving are one son in addition to Brevard Myers, John Springs Myers of Columbia, S. C.; five grandchildren, John Myers Jr., Sue Myers and Margaret Myers of Columbia and Janette Myers and Brevard Myers Jr. of Charlotte; a brother, Eli Baxter Springs of Charlotte, and two sisters, Miss Esther Springs of Charlotte and Mrs. Joseph A. Jones of Havana.

She was born March 22, 1887, in Fort Mill, S. C.

Funeral arrangements were incomplete today. Mrs. Myers was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church.
