In Loving Memory of Russell Greene...

Russell John Greene was a Lt. Col. in the US Air Force. His enlistment date was 29 Oct 1941 in New York City. He went into the Air Corps at age 26. He was a flyer/navigator in World War II. He flew B-29 bombers. He was in the 1st American Volunteer Group of the Chinese Air Force. "Flying Tigers" was their popular name. He also served at the Strategic Air Command (SAC) at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska.

In his 1940 census, says he was a credit investigator. His WWII Army Enlistment Record index says he was "clerks in trade, n.e.c.".

After he retired from the military, he went back to university and eventually became a high school teacher. Earlier in life I am told he worked at a telegraph office possibly before WWII. Source: Family stories.

He was the son of Emma Barbara Rust and John A. Greene. He married Louise C. Julius and left no children. They married sometime between 1941 and 1948.
